I've been enjoying your stories! This one was my favorite and that's out of a fine group. I loved the original characters. They rang true and I came to care about them as much as I did our two lovely guys. The idea of Bertie imagining Illya's fake family coming to live and helping to fill up her empty house was just heartbreaking. Also, I thought the story really felt as if it was from the 60s. The whole thing had the ring of authenticity.

This is a great story. I live in Chattanooga Tn, not far from coal country, and I felt the spirit of that country in this story. It warmed my heart to think of Bertie and Joy and the baby forming a new and happy family, the silence lifted. Thank you.
Except that Napoleon should've bought outdoor clothes and shoes before taking a walk. I mean really....
