Maybe this one is my favorite...no I still think it's Appalachia...no maybe this one. I can't decide. They're both fabulous. And again, it's the original characters that I loved. You are very gifted with their creation. My only quibble and it's small, was that I think the very beginning was confusing. It felt like a few paragraphs were missing and we started the story in the middle. You explain what is going on shortly after that, but it felt a little incomplete.

Illya's (ahem) friend is named Linda! And she's got a dog! Why am I not surprised?
Linda, I just love this story. It was recc'd on mfu short storie, but I already have it on my kindle, and it's about time I send you a note about it. I am in awe of your writing. Napoleon and Illya are spot on. And Robin, aw, geez, would that all innocents could be so plucky, so admirable, so memorable.
Well done! It was a pleasure to read.

This is a brilliant, compelling story. The people are so real, the situation so vivid. Several times, I found that I was physically holding my breath as I read. What a powerful gift you have. Thank you so much for writing this.
