Nice story!
When IK saw her at first, I wasn't sure who the "she" was. I kept wondering, he isn't rescuing Angelique, is he? When she was much too accommodating to be Angelique, I wondered if she might be an apparition of someone who was killed by Thrush and was still seeking rescue.
That Vappu was the goddess who brought salvation to the fallen warrior was a very powerful story twist, because you realize just how fortunate IK was to be alive. That the nurse looked like Vappu was a nice touch, adding to the mysterious elements of the story.
